Guillermo (Memo) De La Riva
Operations Coordinator
Memo is the Operations Coordinator at HIP, where he supports internal operations, finance, human resources, and convenings such as the HIP Council. In this role, he helps ensure the effective, equitable, and collaborative implementation of programs and policies that strengthen the local healthcare safety net.
Raised in Garden Grove, a diverse city in Orange County, Memo grew up in a vibrant community of Mexican and Vietnamese immigrants. Experiencing firsthand the health inequities faced by underserved neighborhoods inspired his commitment to giving back to the communities that shaped him.
Prior to joining HIP, Memo served as a Pathways Fellow (hosted by CDPH and UCSF) with the Santa Cruz County Public Health Department. There, he gained hands-on experience in local public health systems, supporting grant initiatives, coordinating medical volunteers, and applying the knowledge gained through his fellowship.
This experience deepened his interest in pursuing a long-term career in public health. Memo is eager to continue learning about the power of public-private coalitions and how they can drive meaningful change. He holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from UC Santa Cruz and is excited to bring his unique analytical and community-centered perspective to his work at HIP.
In his free time, Memo enjoys exploring the Central Coast, hiking, exploring cafes, and watching guilty-pleasure reality TV. He frequently visits his family in Southern California and, as the youngest of three siblings, is especially looking forward to welcoming his soon-to-be-born niece.
