Santa Cruz County Health Improvement Partnership (HIP) & Safety Net Clinics Coalition (SNCC)
Celebrating National Health Center Week, Santa Cruz Style
On March 16, 2020, Santa Cruz County joined six other Bay Area counties that responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with Shelter-in-Place orders. Sheltering in place continues to affect every business, home, school, and agency in profound ways. This year, as we celebrate National Health Center Week, we want to give a loud and proud shout-out to the ongoing response of Santa Cruz County’s Safety Net Clinics – the health centers that take care of our most vulnerable residents and families every day, year-round, especially but definitely not only during the prolonged crisis of COVID-19.
Behind their layers of PPEs, the staff of Santa Cruz County’s Safety Net clinics are taking care of their patients and of each other. Along the way, they are discovering innovative new ways to provide care that they hope will outlast the COVID-19 pandemic, so that our new normal becomes better than the old one, for everyone.
Read on to learn how Santa Cruz County health centers and their partners are lighting the way.
Staff from the Health Service Agency's Watsonville Clinic show their determination to fight COVID-19.
