Michelle Bakin - UCSC.jpg
UCSC Intern

Michelle is a 4th year undergraduate student at UC Santa Cruz studying human biology. She is committed to learning more about geopolitical determinants of health, the stories they create, and the relationship between physical and mental health. This drive, in part, comes from growing up with parents and siblings who immigrated from the Soviet Union and hearing their stories.

Michelle has volunteered at clinics and nonprofit organizations aiding people experiencing homelessness. Currently, Michelle is the president of the UCSC Model United Nations team, secretary of an organization aiming to house homeless students, and making long-term plans. Michelle is recently employed at Roots Community Health Center and is looking to combine her experiences to improve the activities she is involved in.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys hanging out with her family and pets, swimming, and suffering in the outdoors (aka backpacking).
