In the spirit of Promoting Collaboration, HIP strives to bring together its network of partners and the wider Santa Cruz Community with nationally renowned speakers and experts. The Annual Community Forum is an opportunity for Santa Cruz, as a whole, to engage with experts in high level ideas, policies, legislation in regard to Health Care. This evening event is held every spring with topics ranging from Legislative Health Care reform to social determinants of health. Exploring Social Determinants of Health
Thursday, May 28th, 2020
11:00AM - 12:30PM
HIP's 2020 Annual Community Forum welcomes Dr. Anthony Iton MD, JD, MPH, Senior Vice President for Healthy Communities at The California Endowment. Dr. Iton leads and participates in statewide efforts to advance policies and partnerships that build healthy communities in California. He believes that restoring democratic engagement and political power in underserved communities is the way to improve residents’ health, and that one’s zip code should not influence one’s wellbeing.
Following Dr. Iton's presentation, Keisha Browder, Chief Executive Officer at United Way of Santa Cruz County, will facilitate a Q&A session with Dr. Iton.
To close the afternoon, the Health Improvement Partnership of Santa Cruz County (HIP) will award the Lifetime Game Changer Award to Michael Milward, CEO of Hospice of Santa Cruz County, for his unwavering support, and heartfelt impact on the wellbeing of our communities.
