Amy was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, CA where she was exposed to community organizing and developed a passion for social justice, politics, and equitable access to healthcare. Amy is a recent graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American and Latino Studies.
Aside from organizing in her home town, Amy has spent time living in Washington DC and working alongside members of Congress to increase diversity in leadership. Amy is determined to work in Public Health sectors that improve access to health care for underserved communities. Amy started working with HIP as an intern before earning her position as a Program Assistant. She supports data collection and various collaborative programs to sustain and improve systems of care.
Amy plans to pursue a combined Master’s of Public Policy/Public Health in the future. In her free time, Amy likes to spend time at the beach or in nature, learning new crafts, connecting with friends and family, and traveling to new places.
