Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County
Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County is a program of the Health Improvement Partnership, representing its commitment to increasing access to care by covering all Santa Cruz County children. Since 2004, Healthy Kids has enrolled over 15,000 local children into Healthy Kids, Medi-Cal and Healthy Families coverage programs. The Healthy Kids Coalition includes HIP members, plus other local community leaders, providers, and children's advocates.
Our strategies are twofold:
- Launching a new health plan - the Healthy Kids Health Plan -- to provide health coverage to 2,000 local children who are ineligible for Medi-Cal or Healthy Families. Healthy Kids covers children from families earning up to 300% FPL or about $60,000 for a family of four. As a locally funded health plan, Healthy Kids is committed to on-going fundraising in order to cover as many local children as possible; and
- Supporting extensive outreach efforts in order to enroll and retain children in Healthy Families and Medi-Cal programs. Through partnerships with the Central California Alliance for Health, County Health Department, County Human Services Department, and First 5, a network of Certified Application Assistors situated at clinics, schools and community resource centers throughout the County ensure that eligible children are efficiently enrolled (or retain their coverage) in Healthy Families or Medi-Cal.
