About HIP

HIP's Mission

To unite public and private health care providers and key community stakeholders to share information, identify problems and take action to expand access to health care services and improve health outcomes for all residents, with special attention to the uninsured.

Vision

HIP is a nonprofit coalition of public and private health care leaders dedicated to increasing access to health care and building stronger local health care systems. Launched in 2004, its member organizations represent Santa Cruz County's major health care providers.

In an industry dominated by fragmentation and competition, HIP provides a common voice for health care improvement on behalf of the community and serves as an incubator of effective solutions. HIP recognizes that our community's health care system is interdependent — when one sector is struggling, then everyone is adversely affected. Therefore, rising numbers of uninsured, spiraling health care costs, and reduced access and services are best solved through collaboration, coordination and integration.

Funding

HIP is funded by both public and private foundation grants. We wish to thank the following organizations for their support: Blue Shield of California Foundation, The California Endowment, California Health Care Foundation, County of Santa Cruz Health Services Agency, First 5 Santa Cruz County, and The David & Lucile Packard Foundation.
